The mosque is in Sehzadebasi area on the European side of Istanbul,in Eminonu. Located in the South of The mosque of Suleymaniye and the east of the Bozdogan Arc. The establishment of this mosque is know to be a dedication for Prince (Sultan' son) Mehmed who was the unique and belowed son of Sultan Kanuni who were wished to be the forecoming king after Sultan, whereas the prince deceased very young . The is is one of the masterpieces of the wellknown Sinan the Architect.
Sehzade Mosque
The Sehzade is a combination of mosque, madrasah, school,almshouse and tombs(mausoleum).The mosque part is at the center of the construction and is walled with an exterior and interior courtyard. The minarets of the mosque is next to the walls of interior courtyard. A domed fountain is at the center of the interior courtyard. The diameter of the big dome of the mosque is 19 meters, and the height is 37 meters which is suported with 4 semi domes. The magnificeny of the pulpit, altar and the gathering places in the mosque are the main parts which attract our attentions.
Sehzade Mosque
There are six tombs are located five in the center and one in the exterior courtyard. The tomb of Prince Mehmed is one the most glorious tombs in Istanbul.
